Nobu - Malibu

So if you have been following me on Instagram for a while, you may know by now that I am a food lover 🙈

I always post photos of food on my Instagram but I rarely ever talk about my experiences or thoughts about the food. Therefore, I want to start writing more blog posts about my food adventures. 😉

I always love trying out new places for delicious and aesthetically pleasing food. I can be picky at some, but for the most part I have an open mind to trying new things.

Today, I want to talk about my first experience at Nobu restaurant in Malibu. I've been to other Nobu locations before but it was my first time at this one.

First of all, this place was extremely packed. You definitely need a reservation if you don't want to wait. Since my boyfriend and I decided to go at the last minute, there was no reservation spot available for 2 people at the time that we wanted. However, the receptionist said they accept walk-in's.

This was at 6PM on a Thursday. Luckily we got the seats in the patio area, just where we wanted, with only a 20 minute wait. It was so surreal being able to see the ocean and hear the sound of the waves while enjoying delicious food.
Since the menu at this location is a bit different than the others, we decided to try the new dishes on the menus and some off menu based on our waiter's recommendations. Yes, he sure knew the menu very well because we really loved all the dishes he recommended. 😊

We started off with a cocktail Lychee & Elderflower Martini. For appetizer, we had Baby Spinach Salad, and Crispy Okra with Garlic Ponzu sauce. This was our first time having fried Okra; it was very interesting yet very delicious with the Ponzu sauce.
I love Lychee martini. I've tried it at many different restaurants and bars, but this was one of the best. It was so sweet and fruity.
For our next dish, we had Yellow Tail Sashimi with cherry tomatoes. Oh my! The sashimi was so chewy and soft that it would melt in your mouth as soon as you took a bite.
As oyster lovers as we are, we made the order of 8 pieces at first. I'm sorry guys for not remembering the sauces for these! We let the waiter decide them for us 😜

Every 2 oysters had a different flavor. Regardless, they were all so delicious. We couldn't taste the fishy seafood smell of the oysters, they were so fresh. We loved them so much that we had to have a second order 😁
Yes, we had to get some rolls as well. We decided to try the Soft Shell Crab roll. The inside was so crispy because of the fried crab. I believe they had the rice paper wrapped around the rolls since they were so chewy.
For our last dish, we had Sweet Shrimp, Uni with Quail Egg, and Deep Fried Shrimp Head. Omg!! The Uni was the best. They literally melt in your mouth combined with soft and sweet flavors. Our fav dish of the night.
We couldn't end our night without any desserts. We went with an off menu dish that was recommended by our waiter called Cobbler. It was crispy on the top layer with different types of fruits inside such as peaches, blueberries, and raspberries. We were very satisfied.
To sum up our night, I had a really great experience at Nobu; I enjoyed all the foods that we had along with the beautiful view.

  13. You can always find this place packed on a weekend night and sometimes they host parties that you can't get into, but other than that happening every once in a while this is the place to be. The LA venues have nice upstairs and down stairs area.
